Worst billing issues ever!!

I have been with Blue Shield for 5 months and every month there is a discrepancy. They bill for a certain amount then claim that you will be canceled for not paying the extra $11 that you owe. I paid exactly what was on the bill. Then they claim that they did not receive check so I then have to call and provide credit card so we do not get canceled. We received our bank and credit card statement and there it is.... we were double charged. They cashed our check the day before I paid on a credit card. I call and was left on hold for about 30 minutes and the oversees customer service rep indicates that indeed there are problems with the account but can not fix and will have supervisor contact me. Never heard back and had to call back. Still disputing issue. On top of it all, I go on their website to check my account balance and when I try to check it I get a message indicating that for security reasons session has timed out! Obviously they are so unorganized and unprofessional that nothing seems to be working at this company. I am so disgusted and disappointed that I will be changing companies.

Hep C meds

Blue Shield of Ca has denied my doctors request 4 different times in 6 months for HARVONI. I have cirrhosis of the liver from Hep C and cannot get meds. Blue Shield approved Viekira pak, BUT I cannot take this medicine because there would be a serious reaction with the meds I have been taking for years. There is no other med I can take to replace the meds that cannot be taken with Viekira pak, but there would be no problem taking my meds with Harvoni. Catch 22 . Harvoni treatment would be 1 pill a day for 12 weeks. Viekira Pak is 5 pills a day for 24 weeks.

Have had problems just trying to get insurance with Blue Shield of CA. since Nov.10,2015. First time of having to get family insurance on our own. Very frustrating, finally got a subscriber ID #, and group # a week ago. Problem now is my husband is the only one covered on the plan. How do these people stay in business?? They provide health insurance, they should know how to do this. Here it is, 2016 and still no cards, documents. I've had to reschedule my 16 yr. old daughters dental appointment twice now because the insurance with Blue Shield of CA is so messed up. Can't get anybody on the phone who could do anything to fix this. But, they're all too happy to process my money. I just can't understand how messed up this insurance company is. Bringing in the New Year with no family health insurance, thanks Blue Shield of California. I hope it's not too late to fire you and get my money back. Hope the next health insurance company can do a better job at processing.

Terrible experience ever! I request to add dental in dec they already sent me the new quotation . But they is nobody to handle it. Till I found out myself in jan because the bill is still old amount! Then called their customer service They are kicking me around between their department and nobody take care of , from 3:00pm till 5:30pm they told me everybody is off and call back tomorrow! *** with them. I am going to cancel my policy.

Charged me after cancelling account. Runaround

This company is a bunch of crooks. I've been calling them for three months straight to cancel my account and refund money they've been charging me after my cancellation date because "there was an error with their computers...", or that department is closed, or call I'll call you back when it's handled. As if. Current amount stolen from me - $264.11. I've actually called once and been told to call back on the weekend because that's when the department that can fix my issue is in. Only to call them and be told, no, the original department I was speaking to was the right one and they only work during the week.

I changed my job. So My Doctor prescribed one medicine. It was not covered by blue shield. but instead of telling me truth they fooled me and making me going here n there. I call them why put a hold on my medicine it was for my diabetes. in first call they told me to take some generic drug before taking my medicine. I told them that is already i took and didn't worked. so they told me that doctor needs to tell them that. so now i call doctor and she called blue shield. now they call me and told me that your medicine will be ready. when i went to pharmacy now situation is totally opposite. now that medicine is not covered by blue shield. if it was not covered in first place then why doctor's approval and stuff. just wasting my whole time. if they told me in first place then i would have choose another way. but they lied at every step. due to this Obama care now i can get any other insurance and i am stuck with this worst ever blue shield offered by my employer.

BlueShield Dental HMO CA, you wont able to schedule appoinment with dentist

I was to schedule dentist appointment at dental office but when I show up the dentist office told me that I was not assigned to their office and I have to go home. I was not able to schedule appointment with any dental appointment even with the dental office that I was assigned to. After got all of my dental insurance information, they all keep telling me that they will call me back but never did. After many calling back to the dental office telling them that I have been assigned to this office, the best I got from them is "this month schedule is full and they will call me when there is appointment available". I call customer service and told them the problem and they told me all they can do is giving me the list of dentist that I could call to make the appointment.

Online system

Using their online system to locate providers within your network is a waste of time! you get either providers who are in your network but don't accept your plans, providers who are no longer in practice, providers who do not provide the services they are listed under. you spend more time searching, and then researching these providers only to have to call their even less useless customer service number. I was on the phone for 35 minutes trying to get the number to a internal/family doctor only to have the guy email me contact info to gynecologists!!!!!! Thanks! and that was not the first time i experienced that "error." I also asked for a replacement ID card which I never received. 5 months later and NO card! useless, unless they need to charge you for services, then they quickly locate you.

Pitful Company

I was denied a benefit. When I called and was transferred 4 times to discuss the denial letter, no one could answered my questions or cared enough to try. I was told there are rules that must be followed no matter what. I have a PPO so I should not need pre-authorization. You pay a ton and they pay very little. When I received the customer survey, I gave very dissatisified, they called to see why and wanted to help me, but still had no answers.

Sent BS money order for 881$ on 11/27/15. They say they received MO on 12/01/15 for 1$ why would I send a MO for 1$ does that even make sense ? REALLY. ? and had to repay for Dec to avoid cancel I have receipt for the MO and have sent off to have traced and photo copy as western union confirms it was received I have used MO for years and the only times have had problem with is with BS and united health why only the health insurance companies I wonder? Now am afraid when I get photocopied MO they will still find way to screw me around we all have to see !

What a joke. Cant understand the people! Wonder what other country I'm calling. Their english stinks. Connection muffled and sounds like they talk through a towel. Talk about incompetent. Ask questions form a boiler plate that have no significance to the requested information. Some questons make no sene at all. A 1/2 hour later and 10 or 12 series of "put on hold," and i found out what an MRI costs. What the *** am I paying some much for. Thanks Obastard for making the insurance companies so profitable and arrogant! Is there some reason that this web site needs at least 100 words? Its easy. I call to get the cost of an MRI as I have not yet fulfilled my deductable. This takes more than 1/2 hour to get a *** response from someone that can't figure out how to wipe their ......

Blue Shield paid a claim on a doctor's visit after my coverage had ended and then expected me to reimburse them for their mistake. Their letter said, "We can't ask your doctor for the money back, but you can." Within a month, they turned it over to a collection agency! Why did they pay it in the first place? I would think that would be the first thing Blue Shield checks--don't pay claims on people who aren't insured with you! It's like an expired coupon, it should have bounced back; someone at Blue Shield should have noticed that I wasn't covered. Perhaps a computer could be set up to notice that sort of thing??? I received 4 letters (one for each of us in the family) informing me when my coverage ended, they should have kept one on file for themselves! Certainly they should be held accountable for this mistake, be punished by paying the $$ and maybe motivate to fix their system. (To be honest, the doctor's office did have my expired insurance information on hand), but still Blue Shield should not have paid it in the first place! Thank you I feel better. I will never use Blue Shield again since they waste money.

Blue Shield is HORRIBLE. Not what it used to be.

When I was let go from a job and my insurance with Blue Shield was canceled, I had to resort to MediCal. Once finally approved by MediCal I still could not collect my MediCal benefits because Pharmacies where still showing Blue Shield as my primary Insurance and Medical as secondary. I'm still on the phone with Blue Shield supervisors unable to get it resolved. Can you believe that?

3 months unemployed and unable to use my MediCal benefits just because Blue Shield is unable to cancel me.

Issues with Blue Shield

I have had my insurance for over a year and they keep increasing my premimum and when i called to talk to a representative about increasing my deductable so i can decrease my monthly premimum she was so rude to me that I was getting very frustrated. In a very rude tone she said that I would have to go to covered caifornia and go through them. Now I am dealing with another upage of my monthly premimum and when I tried to get on the website to change it the website stated that my account was located but i can't log in due to the fact that they have the wrong SS#. I looked into covered california and it is the same price as my plan right now. They are so screwed up over there.

Worst Insurer for Providers. Period

Everyone at Blue Shield Customer Service is in India and cannot speak, or cannot understand English. All the Customer Service reps will do (rather than solve your problems) is read to you from a script manual. I am an MD and had a contract with them for over two years. I finally had to terminate it for lack of phone support. Truly, these people have 'zero' interest in Customer Service and are only interested in maximizing profits. If you're a provider and are thinking Blue Shield ....think again!!!! I'd rather even use Kaiser, and no one would rather use Kaiser.

Absolutely true. I never considered Kaiser until now. I am going to sue Blue Shield for preventing me from receiving coverage with MediCal because because a cancelation was not possible.

I just called to pay my son's BCBS of GA & they made me pay last month's payment AGAIN! PLUS when I paid it last month they put the amount for medical on dental and vice versa!!!

Then he said the dental was paid thru August & I beg to differ because if the total for medical was paid on dental, it would be paid thru October!!! When I asked if he could find. It like it should have been applied he said NO the system wasn't set up where they could do that! I should have only owed about $430 for part of last month (because we changed his plan), but ended up paying $603!!!

We never had this problem when he still lived in AL and we both had it for many years!!! They WILL be hearing from me!!!

Hours and hours and hours on the phone for any issue, long holds, lack of support. As a provider, I'd say, think twice before having business with thBCBS
